  1. Cool blog, I found it through a photo of mine you liked on Facebook, but for some reason after their recent changes I couldn’t find a way to message you and say hello without Adding as a Friend out of the blue :) I was wondering if I’d met you at all, as I saw we have a few friends through Cotswold..

Great photos! Stumbled across your blog randomly via a mutual friend on Facebook. As someone who use to work in Harpurhey I’m very impressed that you made it look so cool!

    • Thanks Matt. Oh, so you know Harpurhey isn’t cool. hahaha ;)

Yeah, I’ll grant you cool isn’t a word most people would choose to describe Harpurhey! Your photo of the old man outside of The Shire made me laugh, every time I ever went past that pub there was always someone outside it staring at me, like I was from another planet!

      • Haha, it’s funny you should say that. I often cycle past and wonder, for that split second whilst I pause my pedals, what goes on behind those Shire walls, and then the thought quickly leaves me again. When I was about to take that photo, there was a group of people sitting to the right of the frame and their first response to me was “quick it’s the social”. I laughed it off and said I wasn’t. I haven’t been back. :)

At least they only said it as joke to you, when I worked in Harpurhey I actually did work for the social! So, I was always worried about about a pint glass being thrown at me! I think it’s best not to wonder what goes on in there, the fact that it’s members only makes it even more terrifying, I’ve always assumed they’re bear knuckle boxing or cock fighting, or something equally horrific!

The thing about Harpurhey I found strange was that people don’t seem to be able to walk past each other normally, they usually end up walking directly towards each other and stopping face to face for a moment!
